What will my tow cost?

What do you need?
Does it go into neutral and roll?
Was it in an accident?
Can a tow truck pull right up to it?

Estimate only, based on the addresses you enter, driving distance from map data (always rounded up to the next whole mile) and our posted prices. Your final price is confirmed on the phone before we dispatch. It can change if the vehicle can't be reached, needs extra equipment or the addresses differ. Prices are for standard light-duty tows and roadside services only and do not apply to impounded vehicles, impound retrieval, crash and accident towing, or medium- and heavy-duty towing. Macomb County and trips over 50 miles are quoted by phone.

When a flatbed is the right truck

A wheel-lift tow picks up one end of the car and lets the other end roll. That's fine for a lot of vehicles, and it's the wrong call for plenty of others. We send a flatbed when the car needs all four wheels off the pavement:

  • All-wheel and four-wheel drive vehicles. Turning the driveline with one axle on the ground can damage a transfer case or center differential.
  • Electric vehicles. Most EV makers require flatbed transport because the motors can generate current when the wheels turn. See our EV towing page.
  • Lowered, modified or low-clearance cars. A bed with a proper approach angle keeps the front lip and underbody off the deck.
  • Accident damage. If a wheel is bent, a tire is gone or the suspension is broken, the car can't roll safely behind a truck. More on accident towing.
  • Anything you care about. Classic cars, new cars going to a dealer, or a car you just bought and want delivered without extra wear.

How a flatbed tow works with us

Call (248) 832-6000 or send the request online through our dispatch system. Tell us where the car is, where it's going and anything unusual: no keys, stuck in park, flat tires, a parking structure with low clearance. That last one matters, because a standard rollback needs room to tilt the bed.

A typical wait in our area is 45 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic, weather and how busy the night is. We'll tell you honestly when we expect to be there instead of promising a number we can't keep.

On scene, the operator loads the vehicle with the winch, secures it at the wheels or approved tie-down points and gets you a copy of the paperwork. If you're riding along, say so when you call.

What it costs

A standard local tow is $125 in Wayne County and $145 in Oakland County, with the first 5 miles included, then $4 per mile rounded up. Add $25 if the car won't go into neutral and needs skates or dollies. Full details on our towing prices page.

Light and medium duty

We handle cars, SUVs, pickups, vans and light commercial vehicles. If you're not sure whether your vehicle is in that range, call and describe it; we'd rather sort it out on the phone than send the wrong truck.

Common questions

Is flatbed towing more expensive than a regular tow?

Our standard local tow is $125 in Wayne County and $145 in Oakland County with 5 miles included. If your car needs extra work to load, we quote it on the phone before we dispatch.

Can you tow my car if I don't have the keys?

Usually, yes. Tell us when you call, and whether the car is locked, in park or has the steering locked, so the operator brings the right equipment.

Can I ride in the truck?

Often, yes. Mention it when you call so we can confirm there's a seat on that truck.
