First, the scene

If anyone is hurt or the car is in a live lane, call 911 first. Once everyone is safe, turn on your hazards, stay out of traffic and call us at (248) 832-6000. If police are on scene they may already have called a rotation tow; ask the officer before you call a second truck.

Take a few photos before the car is moved: all four sides, the other vehicle, the plates and anything on the road. Your adjuster will thank you.

What we do on an accident call

• Load the vehicle, including ones that can't roll, using a flatbed when the damage calls for it.
• Sweep up the glass and debris we can safely pick up.
• Take the car where you tell us: your body shop, your dealer, your driveway or storage while you and your insurer decide.
• Give you the tow receipt and details your claim will need.

You choose the shop

In Michigan you pick who repairs your car. Nobody at the scene gets to steer you to a particular shop. If you haven't picked one yet, we can hold the vehicle while you decide, then move it once your claim is open.

Working with insurance

We work with insurance companies and motor clubs regularly. Have your policy number handy when you call, and tell us if your insurer already opened a claim or gave you a claim number. If your policy includes towing coverage, ask them how reimbursement works; some pay us directly and some reimburse you.

Freeway crashes

I-94, I-96, I-75, the Lodge and the Southfield Freeway see a lot of collisions, and freeway shoulders are dangerous places to wait. If you can safely get off the freeway, do it. If you can't, stay buckled in the car with hazards on unless it isn't safe to stay in it, and tell us exactly which direction and nearest exit or mile marker.
